About Us

The Monash Pathology Service operates under the brand name of Monash Health Pathology and is an integral part of Monash Health. It is one of the largest providers of Pathology Services in the state and currently operates five laboratories with the main laboratory located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton and additional facilities being located at Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey and Wonthaggi hospitals. Monash Pathology offers a comprehensive range of tests and the services are provided to the public and private sectors, and other laboratories.

About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated scientist with relevant training and at least five year of experience working in Chemical Pathology Laboratory. The successful applicant will join the existing pool of Grade 3 Scientists within pathology and will report to the Principal Scientist and Unit Head of Chemical Pathology
  • A wide range of methodologies including Spectrophotometric and Immunoassay tests.
  • Instrumentation includes Beckman Coulter AU5800, DXI800, Liaison XL, Cobas e411, Radiometer ABL800 and Abacus Cap3 analysers.
  • A high level of skills in interpretation and review of internal QC and QAP is required
  • Skills in the development and troubleshooting of automated and manually performed assays is required
  • Other duties include staff training, management, administration of the external QA program, education seminars, rostering, stores and other duties as required
It is a rewarding position with great opportunities and professional advancement. The successful applicant are required to consolidate and develop new assays in addition to carry out the routine work in the mass spectrometry lab. Rotation through different sections of the laboratory in Chemical Pathology may also be required.

Selection Criteria Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) or recognised equivalent

Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in Chemical Pathology working with multiple analysers and systems

Experience in presenting scientific finds in professional meetings
