At Juniper, we recognise that food is an important part of each residents' life and contributes to their sense of wellbeing and comfort. We now have an opportunity available for an experienced Cook at our 80-bed Juniper Hillcrest aged care home, located in Geraldton, WA.

The purpose of this role is to prepare high quality, nutritious meals to meet our residents’ special dietary requirements. You will be responsible for supervising a small team of catering staff and ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to. You will also make sure that the quality of meals is maintained at a high standard and that a safe food service is provided.

To join our team you will need to be keen to contribute to a positive, welcoming environment that enhances the lives of others. This is a part time position requiring you to work Sunday to Wednesday, 6.30am - 2.30pm. Additional relief work may be available. You are also required to work on Public Holidays.

Key Responsibilities of this role:.

  • Preparing and cooking high quality, nourishing meals for our residents
  • Monitoring all practices within the catering centre to ensure safe food handling and infection control procedures are being adhered to
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards
  • Stock control management, replenishing and ordering stock as required
  • Compliancy with Juniper’s Occupational, Safety and Health requirements

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Trade certification or experience in a commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering is required
  • Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged is preferred
  • Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy for elderly residents
