About the Role

Monash Health is seeking Consultant Psychiatrists (3.5 EFT) with an interest in joining its Aged Persons Mental Health Service (APMHS), Mental Health Program. The Mental Health Program is one of the largest providers of clinical mental health services in Victoria. Successful candidates will work in a range of multidisciplinary team settings (inpatient, community and/or psychogeriatric nursing home in-reach) to provide the clinical leadership and vision needed to develop a strong recovery-oriented practice in the care of older adults living with mental illness, including behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. A significant proportion of the above EFT will go towards staffing a new Psychogeriatric Nursing Home (PGNH) In-reach Team to Monash Health’s three psychogeriatric residential care facilities. Patients are referred from a variety of sources including the APMHS triage service, medical and surgical wards, residential care services and emergency departments. Monash Health is committed to providing high quality of care to its patients in the program and this position would meet demands in the rapidly growing south-east region of Melbourne.
