About the Role

The ANUM fulfills the roles and responsibilities of the registered nurse, demonstrating expert knowledge and skills whilst undertaking a prominent management focus within the Medical Ward. The ANUM is an important member of the Wilson Lodge management team, supporting and assisting the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in the course of their duties to ensure efficient and effective operation of the clinical environment. The ANUM assumes the responsibilities of the NUM in their absence and accordingly must have knowledge of the administrative operation ofwilson Lodge as well as be involved in the delivery of direct patient care.

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) operates in a complex environment characterised by a need to:
• work as part of a large multidisciplinary team that provides services across aged care services;
• provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager and provide leadership to unit staff;
• balance competing priorities and work demands and to identify and respond appropriately to critical and urgent clinical needs;
• understand and operate in a work environment driven by the need to meet a clinical quality and safety guideline; and
• work closely and in collaboration with internal and external stake holders.

Duties

  • Provide clinical leadership to Wilson Lodge through delegation, coordination and supervision of staff rostered for each shift on the basis of workload prioritisation and staff level of experience.
  • Ensure a delivery of a high standard of patient/client care. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for any delegated activities to an Enrolled Nurse. The Registered Nurse will also demonstrate an understanding of the Scope of Practice of the Enrolled Nurse when delegating and allocating nursing activities.
  • Act as a principal clinical resource for staff on a shift by sift basis.
  • Perform in the NUM role in their absence.
