About The Role


The position works within the established procedures of patient wards and associated departments with support within the provision of ward based patient care. The position is responsible for the provision of patient transfer between wards, mortuary transfers, and patient lifting & turning in bed areas, under the direct Supervision of Nursing, and also performs Patient Services Assistant (PSA) tasks to support Nursing on the wards. The role will provide a high quality, customer focused service to internal and external customers. Efficient communication and timely responses to requests for service are paramount for this position in achieving sustainable service delivery


About the Role


Sunday to Thursday : 23:00 to 07:00 ( Night shift)


Hours per fortnight:80 Hours ( on going)


 Responsibilities will also include:




  • Respond to paged service requests




  • Ward Patient Lifting & Turning, including bariatric patients under the direct supervision of Nursing employees




  • Patient Transfers as delegated by Nursing.




  • Mortuary Transfers




  • Use of Lifting Machines and Slings, following agreed manual handling processes.




  • Patient transfers with use of equipment; bed movers and wheelchairs




  • Messages to support the provision of patient care




  • To be conscious and aware to minimise amounts of waste




  • Exercise initiative for efficient use of resources


    All other Ward Support/ PSA duties, as directed by the General Services Team Leader/Supervisor/Managers and Nursing employees


    About You


    We are looking for people who have a high standard of customer service, along with great communication skills to provide a personable approach to our patients and visitors at Monash Health. We will need you to have:



  • Certificate III Health Services Assistant

  •  competent level of verbal & written communication skills

  • Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills

  • Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling

  • A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service from a health care or hospitality environment (desirable)

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence (desirable)
