The OpportunityWelfare Recruitment Solutions has been approached by a best practice industry leader to assist recruiting a Dementia Care Specialist who can service Port Lincoln providing assessment and behavioural management services for persons living with dementia and their families.

The Role

You will be responsible for providing face to face assessments of concerning behaviours with persons living with dementia and provide guidance, recommendations and strategies to further improve and educate in their care.

In line with best practice dementia care your role will be providing holistic assessments - physical, psychosocial, and environmental factors in identifying triggers and unmet needs. Post-assessment you will case manage and evaluate to ensure the strategies that you recommend are reducing any concerning behaviours so the highest quality of living can be achieved.

This is a wonderful opportunity to specialise and bring your warm and caring nature to this role in being able to build rapport with ease particularly at a very concerning time for families.

The Person

To be considered you will need to demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of different dementia diagnoses and BPSD along with the ability to understand and identify triggers/unmet needs.
  • Experience conducting assessments in a senior clinical role in residential, acute/sub-acute, government health service or through a community provider. Alternatively, you may have worked in an allied health/therapeutic role as an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Behavioural Specialist or Diversional Therapy in aged care where you have worked extensively with persons living with dementia and understand behaviours.
  • An avid learner and passion for quality dementia care. If you have completed or studying towards Diploma through to Masters level in Dementia Care, Gerontology, Ageing and Health it will be very highly regarded.
