Required Dates: 31 May – 31 Dec (min 2 week placements) Seeking extended cover to meet patient load as well as annual leave cover.

Fees: Negotiable, $1200 per day + GST for GP sessions. Will provide accommodation and cover travel fees.

Role: VMO, we work on a 14 rotation with 2 other clinics in Benalla, each week is different days for us, overnight 6pm-8am and weekends either a Saturday or a Sunday from 8am for 24hours

Patients are directed to attend Benalla Health, if a doctor is required, the nurses at benalla health will call the doctor on their mobile.

The Carrier Street Clinic is a busy, innovative and fully computerised, accredited teaching practice with more than five consulting rooms and a treatment room.

Currently five full time doctors are supported by a practice nurses and administration staff. Paediatricians and allied health specialists including a podiatrist, diabetes educator, dietician, mental health nurse and drug and alcohol nurse are part of the total care service provided by the practice. Current GPs particular interests include disabilities and methadone prescription.

The after hours and on call commitments are not onerous as there is a town roster to cover.

The Benalla and District Memorial Hospital provides acute care (medical, surgical and midwifery), aged care (a 30 bed nursing home) and community health services to Benalla and the surrounding areas. The hospital does not have salaried medical staff and the local GPs are rostered to provide A&E support. The hospital has three birthing suites and GP obstetricians work closely with midwives supported by a specialist obstetrician. The medical ward has 31 beds and provides acute treatment and rehabilitation services. The modern operating theatre supports a busy operating schedule.

General practitioner anaesthetists support a comprehensive range of services provided by visiting surgeons, including general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, gynaecology, urology, ENT, and oral & maxillofacial surgery. Public and private colonoscopy and gastroscopy lists are also provided. The hospital’s radiology department offers x-rays, including dental films, for inpatients and outpatients and a private operator, next door offers colour ultra-sounds and the latest in CAT scan technology.
