About Department

Berengarra, a new multi storey 90 bed state of the art residential aged care facility comprises 60 mainstream and 30 Aged Persons' Mental Health (APMH) beds designed to deliver contemporary best practice person centred care. Berengarra compliments a suite of existing St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne's residential facilities.

Berengarra is due to welcome the first residents in March, with a planned staggered opening throughout 2021 until the facility is at capacity.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the support services function, including; food Services, housekeeping, cleaning and laundry services for residents at the Berengarra aged care facility. The role works in conjunction with the broader St George's Hospital Support Services team and will report to the Support Services Manager St George's Hospital (incorporating Berengarra). You will be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and the ability to communicate with staff across all levels of the organization. Both Full time and Part time positions a

The classification for this role will be GN1 ($60,320 per annum pro rata)

Duties

  • Coordinate the daily operations of the kitchen, housekeepers, cleaning and laundry to ensure the services are delivered in a customer focused, efficient and cost effective manner
  • Foster collaborative working relationships through effective recruitment, training and ongoing development of the staff
  • Produce, display and maintain rosters in line with Hospital EFT and EBA requirements
  • Backfill daily staff absences and update Kronos rostering/payroll system
  • Oversee the daily central food operations, including but not limited to stock ordering, food production, and completion of Food Safety Documentation and audits
  • Support management in the development and recording of resident food and beverage preferences and assist the Housekeepers to maximise the choice and flexibility in meal and dining times for residents
  • Implement and promote processes and procedures that drive workplace change and realize opportunities for improvement that keeps the teams at industry best practice

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (HLT FSE005 & HLT FSE 007)
  • Supervision/leadership training (certificate)
  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (preferred)
  • Demonstrated effective people management skills, and proven ability to work as part of a team and ensure positive collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven skills in preparation of staff rosters to deliver service requirements within budget
  • Clear understanding of the Department of Health Cleaning Standards for Victorian Public Hospitals 2011, and clear understanding and experience in cleaning and support services is imperative (preferably in a health care setting)
  • Strong computer literacy, in particular with Microsoft Office applications and able adapt to new programs quickly
