SESLHD covers nine Local Government Areas from Sydney's Central Business District to the Royal National Park and has a culturally and linguistically diverse population of over 930,000 people, which includes highly urbanised areas of eastern Sydney, southern Sydney and industrialised areas around Port Botany.

SESLHD covers urban and suburban communities and manages eight public hospitals and one public nursing home:

  • St George Hospital
  • Sutherland Hospital
  • Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital

SESLHD also operates 28 Child and Family Health Centres, 12 Community Health Centres and nine Oral Health Clinics; providing prevention, early intervention and community-based treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation services.

Drug and Alcohol, Mental Health, Breast screening, HIV/AIDS, Public Health, Women's Health, Youth Health, Sexual Health, Imaging and Pathology services are provided at a number of facilities across SESLHD.

The primary location of this poisiton will be at St George Hospital, Wonen's & Children's Health - Obstetrics & Gyanecology

What You'll Be Doing

To provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. To provide clinical care in normal hours and after hours and meet requirements of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Training Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for rostering of the on call roster for trainees and research fellows. To be responsible for training, supervision and guidance of medical students, residents and trainees. To provide leadership amongst JMOs in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Important Information

  • This is a Category A+ position. All Category A+ applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy PD2020_017. Successful applicants to the role must provide vaccination history and pathology as part of the application documentation, and be certified as compliant before employment can commence. A link will be provided once deemed successful
  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • At least four years of accredited RANZCOG training, including having passed written and oral RANZCOG exams as of position start date ie. Candidate commencing Year 5 or 6 (Advanced Training Years) of FRANZCOG training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant clinical practice at a high standard.
  • Preparedness to participate in the after-hours roster.
  • Documented evidence of previous experience of undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
