Food Services

Fixed Term Part Time - 32 hours per week

July 2021 until October 2021 with possible extension

Health & Allied Services RG9 - $30.52 per hour base salary


Reporting to the Food Services Manager the Head Chef is an integral role within the Food Services team, with responsibility for;

  • The management of the food production team.
  • The production of meals that meet both the dietary and texture specific needs of patients and nursing home residents.
  • The provision of food for the cafeteria and functions.
  • Menu planning in consultation with the Food Services Manager, Dieticians & Speech Pathologists.
  • Assisting the Food Services Manager in the management of Chefmax – Menu management system.
  • Assisting the Food Services Manager in the management of KRONOS – Time & Attendance system.
  • Act as the Food Services Manager in their absence or whilst they are on leave.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with all relevant legislative requirements and in accordance with all West Gippsland Healthcare Group policies & procedures.

Required Skills

and experience include:
  • Trade Cooking Certificate
  • Safe Food Handlers Certificate – HLTFSE001 or equivalent.
  • Previous leadership experience in a high volume kitchen preferably within Health or Hospitality
  • Food Safety Supervisor Qualifications
  • Previous experience with the cook chill food production system
  • Experience and proficiency in computer usage
  • Previous healthcare or special diet preparation experience
