Your new team

  • Music Therapy at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is led by Dr Emma O’Brien OAM (founder). You will be joining a team of five music therapists and one health musician providing excellent clinical care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital sites and working on innovative staff wellbeing projects like the RMH Scrub Choir.

  • We enjoy a collaborative working environment.

  • You will help us achieve excellent quality live music therapy service and also apply a diverse range of music therapy methods to support our patients and their carers in palliative care and respond to hospital wide referrals.

  • In return you will receive ongoing professional development opportunities and be apart of a supportive unique music therapy team. You will also have opportunities to participate in a range of special projects within RMH and projects that engage the broader community- nationally and internationally.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Provide a clinical service that follows key methodologies that are evidence based in this setting including the provision of therapeutic live music, guided original songwriting (GOLM), guided relaxation, music skill building and studio therapy (which includes recording and production of songs)

  • Demonstrate an openness to learning and collaboration

Your Contribution

  • You have excellent music skills in singing and guitar and the ability to apply those skills therapeutically across the spectrum of wellness (other instruments also welcome)

  • You are a collaborator and enjoy working in a dynamic environment

  • You enjoy variation in your workday and are a flexible collaborator
