An exciting opportunity exists to Rehabilitation Department at Port Kembla Hospital. 

Where you'll be working

Port Kembla District Hospital is a 57 bed facility which specialises in Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care Services. The hospital also provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What you'll be doing The Trainee in Rehabilitation Medicine provides a Rehabilitation consultative service in conjunction with the supervising Specialists to inpatients and non- inpatients within the facilities of the ISLHD, assists in the development and implementation of a goal orientated Rehabilitation plan and the coordination of Rehabilitation treatment at facilities within the Rehabilitation Networks as well as referral to other facilities as required.

The Trainee will gain experience in general principles of Rehabilitation Medicine and perform comprehensive Rehabilitation Assessment and care of patients referred to the Department of Rehabilitation.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. At least 3 years postgraduate medical experience
  3. Demonstrated experience and interest in Rehabilitation Medicine
  4. Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  5. Demonstrated teamwork within a multi-disciplinary team, time management and problem solving skills in a complex clinical environment
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  7. Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment
  8. Demonstrated interest and willingness to teach Junior Medical Staff and undertake research
