GenesisCare has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and professional Telephonist / Administrative Assistant to join our Cardiology Team on a full-time basis in regional Queensland.

As the Telephonist / Administration Assistant, you are responsible for providing administrative support to our staff and clinicians to ensure that a high quality, professional and efficient administration service is consistently provided to our patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and computer skills (including Microsoft Office suite) and the ability to multitask and prioritise workloads whilst demonstrating an agile and innovative approach to work processes.

What you'll do:

  • Checking and processing patient referrals with Medicare in a timely manner and gaining an understanding of the Medicare guidelines and rules
  • Respond to incoming phone calls promptly and provide a professional service.
  • Work with colleagues and other administrative staff to achieve efficient and effective management of medical appointments and other related clinical information via the Health Track system.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of procedures, preparation required, answers to common questions.
  • Accurately updating patient details and referrals.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of cardiologists' clinics and testing services.
  • Maintaining appointment diaries and taking initiative to ensure sessions are fully booked.
  • Ability to competently operate computer-based technology.

Who you are:

  • Administration or customer service experience, preferably in health or aged care.
  • An ability to carefully plan, organise and prioritise tasks.
  • An understanding of customer service principles with an ability to respond sensitively to patient needs.
  • The ability to work under pressure and respond to fluctuating workflow and internal / external demands.
  • The ability to follow direction; accept feedback; learn new tasks and adapt to change.
  • Good telephony and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team.
  • An understanding or willing to gain an understanding of the Medicare billing system.
