About The Roles

The Interdepartmental Midwives Model (MIM) offers a unique opportunity for midwives to experience working in a combination of departments in our Specialist Public Hospital.

  • Located at Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg
  • Enjoy the variety of rotating through a combination of two or three departments, generally spending 2 months in each
  • Various Fixed Term and Permanent Roles at 0.8 EFT
  • Opportunity to work across some of the following areas; Birthing Services, Emergency Department, Antenatal and Postnatal Ward, Special Care Nursery, High Dependency Unit, Gynaecology and Oncology unit, Antenatal Clinic Domiciliary & Hospital in the Home and the Fetal Monitoring Department
  • You will be required to have a strong family centred care focus and be committed to ongoing professional development, clinical excellence and continuous quality improvement
  • You will be required to work all shifts AM, PM, and ND

About You
  • You are motivated, enthusiastic and keen to take a positive step in your career by joining Mercy Health
  • Current Midwifery Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 1-year post-registration Midwifery experience
  • Minimum Level 2 score with a RANZCOG accredited CTG course
  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse is also required to rotate to some areas
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other members of the health care team
  • Department-specific prerequisites:
  • Emergency Department - Registered as a Nurse and Midwife
  • Special Care Nursery - Registered as a Nurse and Midwife, Experience in Special Care Nursery is desirable
  • Birthing Services - Credentialed to IV cannulation or working towards
  • Domiciliary services - Minimum 2 years post-registration experience, Previous SCN experience preferred
