JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary
The position will be responsible for assisting consumers to participate in the Whitehorse City Council Active Living Programs including Social Support and Transport services based on the philosophy of wellness, reablement and restorative care.

We are looking for committed, caring enthusiastic, positive people with exceptional communication skills to assist and monitor the well-being of clients that participate in the Active Living Programs. You will work in a variety of centre & community based settings providing transport and facilitating activities that maintain and support the independence of people who are older. You will be actively involved in planning, developing and preparing activities that are relevant for program areas.

The successful candidate will have

  • Certificate III in Home and Community Care or Aged Care, Level 2 First Aid Certificate and Food Safety Level 1 Certificate.
  • A valid Victorian Driver’s Licence to drive buses with capacity to carry up to 12 people (including the driver)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with groups of older people and their carers from diverse backgrounds including those experiencing dementia
  • Demonstrated understanding of safe food handling techniques.
  • Excellent Customer Service. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications in Lifestyle and Leisure and Food Safety are desirable. The role available is 0.8 EFT (30 hours per week), but we would equally accept applicants interested in fewer hours per week.

Salary: $30.7818 per hour + 9.5% Super + 25% casual loading (if applicable).
