The Position

Title: Allied Health Assistant

Department: Physiotheraphy

Classification: Dependent on qualifications and experience

Hours per fortnight: 32

Status: Fixed Term Part Time until 5 July 2022

Echuca Regional Health Physiotherapy department has grown in recent years. We are seeking Grade 1 or Grade 2 Allied Health Assistant to back fill a fixed term position for a period of 12 months. An opportunity for some permanent hours may become available longer term.

Duties include administration tasks and opportunity for clinical work. Previous experience across inpatient, rehabilitation, community, primary health and aged care will assist with this role. Day to day duties may include booking appointments, using computer-based programs, data collection, ordering supplies and general day to day running of the department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Flag issues and need for reviews with other members of the physiotherapy team to ensure individual client goals and objectives are met in a timely manner;
  • Implement tasks as directed by health professionals and to provide effective feedback on these tasks as required;
  • Assist with triage and entering data into electronic based records;
  • Maintain documentation of all client intervention in the appropriate medical record;
  • Record client contacts and statistical data as per program requirements;
  • Assist in maintaining safe and clean work areas;
  • Implement exercise programs with patients, under the direction of Physiotherapist
  • Completion of indirect tasks as requested by health professionals, for example phone calls, modification of equipment, letter writing, administrative tasks;
  • Other duties as reasonable and appropriate within the department.

Our team requires someone who has:

  • Qualifications or working towards qualification with in relevant area including allied health assistant.
  • Skilled in computer-based programs to book appointments, source records as required, input statistical data, customer liaison skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

This position requires completion of a satisfactory National Police Check and Work with Children Check prior to appointment.
