Position Summary: 

The COVID-vac group is responsible for managing and coordinating the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination to the state of Victoria. Operating as a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, the group will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver an effective and efficient immunisation campaign.

The Principal Adviser will provide high level strategic support and advice to the Executive Director, Clinical Governance and Safety. The position will collaborate across the COVID-19 Response Division, with department executives and other senior staff, the Minister's office, relevant policy and program areas, and key external stakeholders to inform strategic options to achieve outcomes aligned with government policies and priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and advise the Executive Director of current and emerging issues in collaboration with relevant Leadership Teams and provide expert strategic advice on a range of issues.
  • Manage and coordinate governance functions in the relevant branch.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and provide relevant information and advice about the branch's direction, issues, identified risks and requirements to ensure appropriate information flow.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, including executive management, stakeholders and Ministerial offices, conveying complex concepts and information.
  • Contribute to effective project performance monitoring and continuous improvement processes in relation to government policies, objectives, priorities and reporting requirements.
  • Represent the Executive Director or branch on operational internal and external committees and meetings and promote a broader understanding of program and policy objectives.
  • Contribute advanced expertise and knowledge to benefit strategic planning and organisation/sector-wide outcomes.
  • Manage a range of projects/functions each with increased budget, staff responsibilities or strategic importance.
  • Respond productively to deliver solutions and outcomes in an organisational environment complicated by scale, heterogeneity and complexity.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
