Salary: $97,871.34 - $101,049.02 (pro-rata)

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated RN with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. Our service comprises of 24 bed acute aged care and 10 bed MAU.

The successful applicant should hold a strong passion in dementia, delirium and behaviour management with a Zero Harm focus.

The Clinical Nurse Educator works to enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing and other clinical staff in the clinical environment of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney as required. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical education needs of staff working within a clinical environment in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants and Program Manager. The Clinical Nurse Educator will ensure all staff both transient and permanent have equitable access to educational support and resources to enhance their clinical competence. The role will ensure evidence based practice principles have been utilised in the development of policies and procedures within the clinical environment and broader organisation. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring that the education delivered is current and based on the best available evidence.

The preferred applicant will demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development, ideally with a focus on nursing education. It is also anticipated they will have well developed communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible with strong clinical skills, has a motivation to share knowledge with others and able to work with a multitude of multi-disciplinary teams.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

2. Registered Nurse (Division 1), with AHPRA and applicants with recent extensive Australian experience in an acute health care setting preferred or should have completed the minimum equivalent of a new graduate program in an acute hospital setting.

3. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as an ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

4. A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development, including an understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements of the Registered Nurse.

5. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems. 6. An understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), work health & safety, infection control, manual handling and continuous quality improvement principles.

7. Immunisation history complies with NSW Health Policy directive PD2018_009.

8. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads.
