The Aged Care Department is accredited for 2 Advanced Trainee positions, each of 12 months duration. The successful applicants will be working with of a team of junior doctors and Consultants with potential rotations including the Royal Hobart Hospital Older Persons Unit, the Orthogeriatrics liaison service, the RHH Consults service, Jasmine Unit (at the Royal Fagan Centre, focusing on rehabilitation in patients with BPSD) and P1/P3 (multidisciplinary rehabilitation). Preferences for rotations will be discussed between the trainees and Director of Clinical Teaching in Aged Care prior to commencement, considering educational objectives.

The position is suitable as core training for Advanced Trainees in Geriatrics or non-core training for Advanced Trainees in General Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Palliative Care or Emergency Medicine.

$95,697 - $135,411 per annum

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work (part time hours may be considered), 80 hours per fortnight commencing 31 January 2022 until 31 January 2023 (24 months may be negotiable).

Duties

  • The Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital and provides after-hours emergency cover at the hospital as determined by the Medical Workforce Unit.

Essential Requirements

Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer of any new criminal convictions and/or if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check
