Role: Senior Adviser, Detention Reviews Coordination (until 31 December 2021)

Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Adviser, Detention Reviews Coordination will work as part of a dynamic team to administer to the state's detention review program on behalf of the Secretary of the Department of Health.

Operating at pace, the Senior Adviser will take a proactive role in administering, overseeing and managing incoming and active detention notice review requests as it pertains to the quarantine arrangements for international arrivals. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate notifications and decisions to ensure that communication is clear, engaging, timely, and aligned to the department's strategic priorities
  • Ensure Detention Review Officers have the information required to make evidence-informed decisions
  • Build and maintain positive relationships across the department and the wider sector to build a user centric culture and to achieve stakeholder alignment
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services
  • Assist in strategic planning and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.
  • Identify opportunities and manage risk. Contribute to the risk management processes across the Division
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Public Administration Act to review and make decisions on detention review requests within a 24-hour period across seven days.
